Correct K2F mag for 63 RGS?
« on: 20.06. 2013 22:03 »
My K2F is toast and probably the wrong one for my 1963 RGS.

Since I have a choice of what to chase down, I can't seem to find any Lucas listings that tell me the appropriate model number of the K2F that should have come with the bike.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul

Paul,
I don't have the Lucas book to hand but the magneto is the same one as used on the Super Rocket.

I dont  have a '63 Lucas book but in the '62 the Super Rocket, RGS and Shooting star used the same maggy, a 42413A.

Even if you buy another maggy Paul you will still have to get it rebuilt so you may as well get the one you have done.

Thanks!

My rebuilder has a number of models to choose from and he suggested the 42413A. Just wanted to confirm before I had him do the rebuild.

By the way Paul,  welcome to the forum.  Hope we hear from you again and get to see some photos of your bike. As you probably know from watching the forum from the outside,  all you had to do was dip your toe in the water to get help from a couple of our more
of expert members.  Cool,  huh?

So,  how did you come to be an "A"  owner?

Thank you all for the welcome. I ended up buying two very pretty but "corrupt" bikes. Lots of "lipstick" as we say on these pigs.

I'm waiting for BSOC to verify the numbers, but I think I have a 1963 RGS and a 58 DBD.

I'll post some pix in a bit.

Thanks again for the help.
