Hello fellas,

I´ll have to replace my regulator mechanical box for a new DC 6v.
I´m looking for a model to charge the battery at low revs

the first option is: Dynamo regulators DVR2
looks really nice, and seems to do what I need, but shipping it´s a bit expensive for me £49 + £54 to ship to Brazil

The other one is: Wassel MCR2 for £34,95 + £9 to Brazil!
but I´m not sure if Wassel will do what I need.

Any one here use any WASSEL model?
it´s a good box for charge at low revs?
or should I buy the DVR2 from dynamo?

I took a look at "Wassell Regulator" topic right now and help me a lot!
I belive that DVR2 is the best option, right?

I think the DVR2 is the best option. It will hide inside the old reg box. While your at it why not put in a dynamo belt drive kit to help with low revs.
Postage to over there is even worse than here  .

... I guess you need good charging to get good lights, so think about getting some halogen bulbs as well.

              Have another look at the DVR2 shipping cost.
They cost 52.00 including postage to Australia so should be similar to Brazil.

I landed a podronics from USA a couple of years ago for buggerall postage.  Maybe  it's changed now.

Yes, Giorgio, you've misunderstood the cost. It's GBP 54 for the DVR2 including postage to Brazil.

The Belt drive it´s really cool stuff!
My mechanic tell me to buy one just in case, but we are trying to make the bike as original as possible.
BUT! I want use the bike, so some parts must be more trustworthy and efficient.
I´ll start change the original 6v regulator for a DVR2 and see wath happens
If the regulator work fine at low revs, great! if not, I´ll have to buy the belt..

about the shipping here, it´s a bit expensive, the worse thing it´s the customs assalt!
we have to pay the parts + shipping + 80% tax
for several times already thought about moving to a bether country...

I´m using all original 6v bulbs. The bike it´s not ready yet, we are almost done with. Must be fun ride at night!
I was looking some LED bulbs, it should have a nice light with consumption

What about 2nd hand parts for vintage/obsolete bikes? Mike might put a scratch in one and call it 2nd hand.

Now one little thiing concerned me in your original post.
The regulator has little effect upon charging your bike at low revs.
If you generator does not produce 6V till 3000 rpm then no regulator on earth will make it produce 6V at 1000 rpm.
All a good regulator will do is efficiently turn on or off your generator.
If you want more zappies at lower revs you either have to rewire the generator or regear it to turn faster.

I already tried that!
They tax everything, used or new
I always ask sellers to mark lower values, works better with 2nd hand or used parts, it´s possible to get more lower values.
I know it´s not a cool stuff but works the most of time and help me to save some money, not giving money to the corrupt government.

I email they last friday and they confirm! it´s £54 include the postage to me!

the best thing to do is install a dynamo belt drive as muskrat suggested.
