Speedo mounting rubber

The rubber mounting grommet under the speedo has rotted away. However I've looked in the parts books and online and can't find one listed, only for the earlier helmet cowl models, can't even find a part number.
Was there one fitted originally or would this have been added later?

You'll get a good quality replacement from Gagg and Sons http://www.gagg-and-sons.freeserve.co.uk/main.html
There are two types available on the market - a nice one made of 'soft' rubber, and a rubbish one made of some kind of hard black stuff, which is impossible to fit. The soft one is still a struggle (for me) to fit, but use washing up liquid and warm up the rubber first by soaking it in hot water should make it go in ok. I'm sure other folk on the forum will have their helpful tricks to fit this item. I think some string can be used in a similar way to fitting car windscreens.
