Dynamo belt drive
« on: 23.09. 2013 19:15 »

With winter coming up, I've installed a dynamo belt drive kit from Dynamo Regulators. For anyone who is doubting to do the same, just do it.
Before the conversion it was impossible to keep the 6V. After every ride with the lights on I had lost +-0.5V.
Now, after several rides no matter how long with lights full on, the battery stays at 6.5V without fancy led bulbs or anything....
Great!

Yup, I have one together with the DVR2, the only weak bit now is the dynamo.  *sad2*

yep have them on both bikes six volt system on the flash with Lucas voltage regulator and the Rocket has belt and V-reg, now I know the DVR2 gets rave reviews and rightly so, I suspected my V-reg was not in the same league as the battery was never at full charge , turns out the V reg is fine it was he battery that was duff, would only hold a charge of  10 to 11 volts, I've got two Burlen types wired in series and get full twelve = magic
All the best - Bill

1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

Cheers

I'm still running 6V and std dynamo set up. I am running LEDs at the back for both rear and brake lights and at the front for the pilot. I've got a conventional bulb for the speedo as I prefer the softer, yellower light behind the dial, and a Goffy super duper headlight bulb. The pilot is bright enough to run on it's own in town at night and out on the open road the ammeter looks healthy enough with the headlight running.

Cyclobutch,
Considered that route also, but in the end decided to go for the belt.
Just goes to show that most of the time there's more than one solution to a problem just by letting your brain work.
