Oil in Magneto
« on: 22.06. 2014 19:13 »
Hey guys,
Has anyone else had this problem...
I was riding my 53 A10 plunger around today, it was a hot day and the engine got pretty hot so i limited my time on the road.  When i went to re start my bike it wouldnt even cough! There was nothing!  So i spent a bit of time looking up hot starting problems and a common fault is the magneto breaking down.  I tested for spark and it was pretty weak, when i whipped out HT lead pickups they were covered in oil!
I assume the oil is coming from the timing case??
Too much pressure maybe??
When i crank the engine over by hand i can hear i hissing sound so i guess the breather is doing its job....

Any ideas guys??
