Speedo issue
« on: 19.10. 2014 17:08 »
Hi all,

Been a while but the rebuilds been slow and expensive.
Getting close now though.

In relation to my speedo, turned the cable by hand and nothing so attached a drill and ran at speed and still nothing.
What do you think the issue will be and is it repairable at home or worth sending off and who to?
Cheers,
Shaun

I have had two speedos done by a guy with the surname of Pople in the Aldershot area. Can't think of his trading name at the moment but he is excellent although not the quickest turn round in the world. Would definitely recommend him. His advertisements are in the Classic Bike press.

I had my rev counter repaired and re-calibrated by him.  http://www.speedorepairs.co.uk/ It was a good job, but as Stu has said he tends not to be the quickest turn around. Incidentally, apparently he used to do all the calibration for the Metropolitan police motorcycle fleet in the days when they used chronographic instruments.

Did you spin it in the correct direction?

Face the speedo dial towards you and you will see the drill needs to spin backwards.

Yes, just flickers as if drives gone internally.
