1961 Super rocket gearbox casing
« on: 14.10. 2015 14:21 »
Hi guys
Don't have a sample to check, but will the gear box shell of a swinging arm BB 31 / 33 be a match for the Super Rocket box. Something other than oil has run in the box !!

The only obvious changes to the swing arm A/B gearboxes are between early and late boxes which have a slightly different clutch cable abutment. The early ones have a slot and are threaded, while the later ones have just a hole and no threaded clutch cable adjuster at the gearbox end.
A good rider periodically checks all nuts and bolts with a spanner to see that they are tight - Instruction Manual for BSA B series, p46, para 2.

Hi John
Thanks a ton. Those are more easily available here. Bought this bike in 1964 for Pounds 40 or so & rode it back to India in 1965 with a classmate & his brother . Sold it in 1968 for 150 quid & bought it back in 1983 for 700 quid. 4 or 5 owners in between 68 & 83
Ride safe
