Powder Coating and Ethanol Resistance

I haven't had it done before, but was looking into powder coating a petrol tank.

I intend to check for leaks first, but wondered how spills and splashes in use may react with the coating especially as ethanol content of fuel will perhaps increase over time.

Had mine sprayed with two-pack by a mate.
Fill her up with E10 and try to avoid spills but every now and then there's the odd drop on the paint. If that happens I just let it dry and certainly don't start to rub it.
No sign of any damage after 3 years.

 Mine is being painted as we speak.

 Cost was not a consideration.

 I went with single stage paint, its easier to maintain for the owner if you dont have to deal with clear coat.

 Add a little hardener to your touch up paint (right before you apply it), and I should be able to cover a scratch and cut it back very carefully with very fine wet/dry and be almost invisible.

If it will be driven, it will get chipped and scratched.

Same here. But I'm careful to not spill petrol on the tank, for obvious reasons.

As I use a tank bag, paint finish is not a major concern. Brushing enamel seems to be pretty good at resisting the dread ethanol.

2K SS is okay, but nothing will be as good as a 2K clearcoat over the top for resisting chemicals and resistance to scuffing etc.
