worty ooerrr strange to me

Does fit perfectly into the g/b clutch lever though.  It's not a Triumph cable and clutch lever (is it??).

That link took me to a TRIUMPH part. Always thought Wortyy had a standard A10, ball  at clutch end to engage with the cup in the end of the operating lever. Gearbox inner  is the same basic casting, early type has thread for outer cable adjustment at the gearbox. Later type puts the adjuster elsewhere, so the hole is plain and big enough allow the ball to simply pass through. No slot to pass the inner cable as on earlier version.

I'd spend the beer money on proper cables that stand a good chance of fitting from the box. Some online sites are not trustworthy.......

Swarfy.  Yes, the link was to a Triumph part to illustrate the type of ball nipple I have at the g/b lever end.  The ball is a perfect fit for the lever - so you're saying this is correct for a std A10?

Because my original cable had a big cable stop the other side of the boss, and my kit didn't come with one of these, I tapped out the boss and put a cable aduster in there (to act as an adjuster and cable stop) - you are correct in saying there's no slit to pass the inner cable through on the boss and no adjuster was there originally.  When I do solder it up, I'll have to remember that the ball must be the correct size to pass through the boss - I think its 1/4" or around 6.4mm in today's money.

If I could have bought an off the shelf cable that fitted my new, higher, bars, believe me I would have done.  This has been a bit of a faff to say the least.

Worty...Reckon that Triumph cable would have fitted provided the thread on the adjuster matched the thread on the inner cover, as on the early type. Not being a Triumph  buff, I do not know what threads Triumph used so one for the rivet counters. Looks as if your box had the later unthreaded inner cover, so scope to modify and make it all fit.

So, to summarise the work in the last few days:

Higher 'Western' bars fitted to save my neck and back on long rides.  Longer clutch cable measured, just awaiting ball nipple to solder.  Threaded inner gearbox boss to take an adjuster.

Primary and timing gaskets replaced with nitrile.  Dynamo chain adjusted and regreased.

Engine, primary, fork and gearbox oils replaced.

Petrol tap leak fixed.

Sump gauze checked for bits.

Engine oil cut off valve thingy fixed with all plumbing.

Leak 'fixed' at return banjo.

Gearbox drain plug leak fixed.

New air filter.

Dowty washers fitted to sump studs, fork drain plugs, petrol tap, and primary drain plug assembly.

New 'Beston' type handlebar grips, plus innovative 'fix' for bar end mirror (comprising rubber hose with coned washer).

I think that's about it (phew).  Apart from a good clean up ready for the clutch cable and refitting the seat and tank.

It'll be like recommissioning it (AGAIN).

N/B.  I still have a problem with a small leak (maybe a crack in the l/h fork slider at the bottom) and (maybe) a dodgy seal, but I'll keep topping up with oil until the front end comes off again.

Finally got my front wheel done, my TLS front brake mostly sorted and the forks in, all which will have to come back apart to be finished, forks are BMW K100 which were easy to adapt but lowers were modified and welded to suit the drum brake

I've uploaded two short videos that Mr B sent me of his Berger Build™ to my Dropbox account. Let me know if this works for you. It's probably best to download the files before viewing to avoid mucho buffering. If you cannot deal with Dropbox I could put the vids on YouTube.

I got a couple of vids from Bergs doin' some passes on (possibly) a Derbyshire Dales road or similar.

It was a good idea to choose such a remote location, as the local farmers would be taking pot shots for worrying the sheep otherwise *smile*

Definitely a nice sound to the bike mate, a lovely combination of angry snarl and pleasant burble.

Try taking it past one of them new-fangled, anti-social detecting, roadside microphone thingies and see if you can break one - shouldn't be too far off. *smile*

I second Wortys remarks about the burble Bergs. Set the hairs up on the back of the neck *countdown* *pull hair out* *grins* *grins*.

I haven't done much on the BSA for the past month or so, but yesterday reset the tappets on the Lilac. I got the gearbox back in last week, so not much to go before I get back to the Flash.
