Ok, I looked it up.  Still pushing it with 3 schooners there Musky *eek*  What beer was it?

From the info I looked at, I like the way SA refers to a British pint as an 'Imperial' pint but the SA 'pint' is actually a 450ml schooner.

If I was in Aus, I'd go for the jug and drink it quick before it got warm (might be more cost-effective too?)

 *beer* *beer*

Sorry Worty, I'm gonna have to correct you there in SA its even worse that:
Imperial Pint (UK Pint) 568 ml (a proper man's drink)
South Aussie Pint 425 ml or 15oz (in other words a generous half)
South Aussie Schooner 285 ml or 10oz (for someone who doesn't really want a drink)
Butcher 200 ml (honestly why even bother!)
Pony 140 ml or 5oz (on a hot day get in quick before it evaporates!)

Cheers BoN - it'd go like this for me:

Jug - warm up for a sesh.
Imp Pint - what follows a jug in the sesh.
SA Pint - that ain't a pint like a kilometre ain't a mile - just get a pint.
SA Schooner - just get a pint.
Butcher/Pony - cheaper to get a pint rather than two butchers and a pony.

TBH - a butcher would be what I'd have whilst my pint/jug was settling. Most of the time, a half pint here is merely a taster to see if it'll do for a sesh, or an emergency drink to wash the dust out of yer throat.

Most cans (tinnies) of beer here are 440ml with the occasional 500ml.  Bottles are usually 500ml, but rarely get the 568ml (pint).  There are some bottles/cans that go to 330ml or even 285ml very occasionally - but I really don't see the point in them.

Do people really drink butchers and ponies - why? I was going to include schooners but, being a half pint over here, I can see it if you want to try a few beers at a decent pub.

First run out on the A10 with winter build Golden Flash Engine. The bike ran well. I only did about 15 miles on it but all good apart from a bit of smoke which I expected. The barrels and pistons I've used aren't perfect. I'm going to take a set of barrels to IMD in Chester and let them bore them and fit a pair of their pistons.

What a great achievement Andrew. I have IMD pistons, and the machinist honed the bore to a #500 grit size. Worked beautifully and not a whip of smoke.
Old cast iron rings need a #150 grit.

A bit more progress on the 2026 project.........
Engine in (nicked from the SR I bought last autumn), gearbox in (NOVA.5.T), DVR2 wired in, Dynamo fitted (12v Priory Magnetos), Magneto fitted (You know who!), Instruments arrived back from Russell Smalley at Chronometrics (not fitted yet), tank back from nice guy who put the two-pack lacquer on for me (sitting in our hallway, will fit at end of project as likely to get dented in overcrowded garage!).

....and finally the 2026 project is on the road! It has a NOVA 5-speed gearbox (touring gear set), Bob Newby belt drive transmission. The engine was built by SRM many years ago, before the bike came inro my possession. The frame is from a 1954 B31 (thanks BlackSheep of this parish!). The rest is BSA Super Rocket/RGS/Gold Star spec, with one or two A65 bits thrown in for good measure, like the seat, bars, front brake. I like a bit of bling now and again! Sounds great, runs well. Happy Days!

Great job!

And good to read above that Russell Smalley is still around.

Finally cleaned up the spare rear wheel hub and painted it. The one on the bike has a crack in it.

I had a tip on the Kawasaki web site to use engine enamel and harden it in the oven. This and a side stand off my Honda have come out really well. It’s a good tip for painting small bits off the bike, cheaper than powder coating and looks as tough.

Took The Flash for a good thrash in the hills for about 100km after tweaking the new steering head bearings, they had settled in a little and I detected a bit of play. Amazing the difference this made to how it goes through the twisties now. lovely!

Got back, no sign of any oil after nipping up the rocker banjo fittings so a great result there, very happy.  In fact so impressed with the old girl I treated her to an oil change, oil tank flush out with diesel and filter clean etc. when we got back.  This bike has been a long journey but I feel like I'm getting the best out of her now. Hope she won't start playing up when I start riding the A65 Spitfire as that is ready for Rego too now.

I'll always have a soft spot for Flashy as she was the first Brit Bike I'd ever owned and has taught me a lot and fostered a developing interest in   'The BSA' and OBM's in general.
