After thinking that I ought to get reaquainted with my imperial spanners for some time , I've got myself a 58 A10GF. Well, the previous owner tod me that it was a 58 but the v5 says 88 (so its probably an age relate number) , the frame No seems to be a 57 and the dvla think it's a59.   It's a bit scruffy but apart from not charging and an almost non existant front brake everything else seems to work.       
   I,m retired now so no excuses not to get cracking

You should be able to date it from the frame number.

Pictures to come when i've got my head around how to.   Back when I were a yoof, amongst other makes I had a couple of A50's, a friend had an A10 which I liked, so when I got this particular itch it had to be an A10. got a bit of work to do, fork seals , head bearings, sorting out the charging including a new loom due to finding household wiring and a mixture of scotchlocs , choc box, and cheap bullet and spade  connectors.

Welcome Rayjay and good luck with the resto. Three core on mine too, fitted it for an extra earth from the tail light, not sure why, many many years ago, when i was a pup! Prob because it was all i had to hand.

To be fair , the main problem withthe loom is not the 3 core, it's the amount of joins in it.  Looks like it's been cobbled together with offfcuts.    As for restoration , its going to be mechanical more than cosmetic. The bike is 60 odd years old and I think that it should show a bit of it's age (like me)

 Hiya rayjay, welcome along....you almost sound like a party animal.. *beer*.....Reminder that I had to use a length of 3 core flex to attach an emergency light switch to my Model T- but that was earlier this century and still working ok-ish  *doubt*
 Don't want to get involved in off topic issues here, best to post in appropriate section but briefly bad charging could be due to the crap connections, dirty brushes/commutator or bad earthing of the genny body....or....  *dunno*
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

I've used this very good company in Derbyshire a few times for cables and other electrical items: http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/

You can get single core thinwall in different thicknesses with a colour trace if you're fussy (like me) about replicating the original colours: http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/section.php/198/1/single-core-pvc-thin-wall-cable

Click on the thickness you want and select the colour from the drop down 'Colour' box.  You can buy by the metre, 30 metre or 100 metre.
