The oil flinger for the primary side crank bearing ? I just put mine in and that is the start of the engine rebuild so guaranteed bad news.

 I said there  MAY be a problem. If the engine has an oileal on the crank, (post 1953, B Series Crankcases) that slinger is not used and is spurious to your engine. If there is no seal, early engines, then you need it, and the drive side outer  race has to come out. The good news is that as long as the race goes back as was, crank float adjustment is not affected.

 You may be the first member of the forum to report on the effectiveness or otherwise of this part. Worst scenario is that oil will enter the primary chaincase. Second worse is that oil will leave the chaincase.  With the usual wet sumping on standing that occurs, could be that the overall effect is minimal. One things for sure, that primary chain will get some lubrication from time to time.

I agree, fluid translation will happen just by flow but also pull and pushed by the vaccum in the crank case usually controlled by the air valve on timing side. The volume of air will be 3 X. Speculations at this stage but I begin to consider a full day action to extract and dismantle entirely the thing when all the process is fresh in my memory.
Not proud of this, we sometimes need a lesson to keep humble.

My 52 motor, as far as I can tell, has been rumbling along without one. No problems there, plenty elsewhere.
That said I have managed to procure an item from Draganfly which I intend to install this time round. Though the item from DF is flat rather than dished like yours (correctly).

My 650 twin of another marque has never had an oil thrower or oil seal on the crankshaft drive side.
