Wiring Harness/Loom
« on: 16.08. 2010 21:38 »
Greetings all,

Can anyone recommend, from experience, a good supplier for a good quality new wiring harness for my bitsa A10.

I've seen a few on evil bay (Canada, US &UK) but I thought I would seek some opinions before diving in with a purchase.

I plan on keeping it 6V and intend to upgrade the voltage regulator.
The mag and dynamo have been re built.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Scotty

The Draganfly harness is excellent!

Thanks for that Richard

I've purchased a fair bit from Draganfly on this rebuild and have yet to be disappointed with the quality of parts received from them.

Cheers

Hi, I'd check any harness first visually having bought one with 90% of the harnesses cables in brown and black and one purple! Not much help when identifying where they go later on - I'm thinking of constructing my own from parts sourced from Vehicle Wiring Products in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. They've been highly recommended and stock cables in all colours not just brown.  *smile*
Anyway if you find one thats good please let me know!

VWP are excellent.
I once ordered something from them Monday morning, and it was here (Finland) the next morning!
I don't understand how that is actually possible.

Another vote for VWP - excellent people, although the P&P is a bit high if you just neeed a few bullet connectors.

WRT to Draganfly - I ordered some timing cover screws from them on Friday and no sign yet. Is this usual?

Thanks Iain and Ian !

I spoke with Dfly this morning and the harness sounds as if well labeled, has bullet ends and comes with a schematic (which is great for someone like me who is easily bamboozled by electrickery  *eek*)
I went ahead and ordered it @ 40 squid (twice the price of harness's on fleabay) so I'll remain cautiously optimistic regarding it's quality.
I'll post a review when I receive it.

Delivery time is not a big priority for me  but I am curious to learn about VWP for the future  ????
Are they in the UK ?

Cheers

Tombeau,

I have checked out their site. All plugs and connectors are for modern stuff;

You're right John. *eek*
I was sure they did trad bullet connectors as well,
I use crimped connectors myself...although ones used with ratchet crimping pliers, not those rubbishy things with coloured plastic on the ends that fall off the wires.
Cheers,
Iain

Another vote for VWP - used them for years for my classic cars. For plugs, ignition lead and plug caps, Tim Green who owns the Green Spark Plug Co is a great help and has a huge range.

They do but they're not where you expect to find them:
