Hi there, looks like you've got some work coming up! Very nice with a bike that's got family history. Go ahead, and welcome for help and questions.
(btw, you're not a newbie here, but an a10 owner)

The stud for the kill button connection should be hollow to take a carbon brush like the ones on the HT pickups.

On the bakelite cover there should be only one large nut on a raised section on the outside diameter. Beneath is a contact which connects to the brass holder inside, which should have a carbon brush which contacts the points centre securing screw.

Poor photos but they may help. You need a fibre washer to insulate the nut from the alloy end cap then a normal shakeproof washer. Now I have read your original post again I'm wondering if you have this kind of magneto though, or the other sort with a spring clip holding the end cover  *conf*

This bike does not appear to be a 1960 GF, although the engine might be. It would be helpful if you provide us with frame and engine numbers.

Hi stratcat, your Red Racer looked very nice, Im toying with Red or Silver, but i now think Red is very nice.

Hi dpaddock, I have the log book here in front of me, it doesnt say what model it is but the previous owners (my dad for approx 25years & my uncle 2/3 years previous) were led to believe it was a GF.

here goes, First Registered - 1960
               Make - BSA
               Model - ?
               VIN - GA7-5116
               Engine - DA1010193

Many, many thanks

Hi dpaddock,
Does the info i posted help which model my bike actually is? I not clued up on old (real) bikes, just go by what previous owners saying.

If it not a GF, does that mean it could be a better model?????

Hi Stav
Sorry but sportier models had a letter after the DA bit - DAR = Rockets DASR = spitfire scrambler
Nothing wrong with a Flash though - get it going then enjoy

All the best - Bill
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco
