I'd like to replace the non-standard front mudguard on my '61 Super Rocket with the correct valanced type. There is an original one in good condition available on eBay right now, but it's nearly three times the price of an Indian reproduction. I know the modern reproduction will not have the same level of fit and finish as the original , but I'm OK with that for the sake of my budget. Before I take the plunge on the reproduction, there is one detail that looks like it could pose a problem. Looking closely at the tabs that connect the mudguard to the central Y-shaped brackets, the front and rear tabs on the original appear to be of unequal length, while those on the reproduction appear to be the same length. Is this correct, or just a trick of the camera? I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who has direct experience with these mudguards. If I have to have someone modify the tabs, the cost difference between the reproduction and the original could become much smaller.
