Brian,
I also know the history of the rigid A10, as my uncle bought it new from Mortlocks in Perth, around the same time my father bought his bike.
My uncle lived in Laverton (still does!) which is 1,000km from Perth in the desert.
He caught the train down to perth (2 day trip), bought the bike, nearly got killed riding it the wrong way up Hay St perth (one way st!), then rode it back to Laverton. 600 km of the trip was corrugated gravel roads!
He used it on a sheep and cattle station, until I sweet talked him into letting me have it.
This was its condition:
I have given away a Star Twin, and a 55 GF, which I then restored for my friend (Mario).
This is a Suzuki clutch which I have fitted to all of the swing arm A10's
I have other makes of bikes as well, but my current BSA project is a '60 Super Rocket with mods like roller brg bottom end, Ikon shocks, BTH self energising maggy, 8" triumph TLS brake and PE400 Suzuki clutch, but belt drive.
I have just completed these two, so the SR will take a further 6 months
I am also doing a 1927 Model A Ariel (557CC sidevalve)
My friend Colin Tie (in Mundaring) makes the clutches; his passion is Gold Stars
Regards,
Richard
